The safari operator’s actual workflow

  • Enquiry arrives (email, WhatsApp, web form) with dates, party size and a route idea.
  • You build a day-by-day route — parks, conservancies, stays, vehicles — and price it: entry fees, conservancy fees, accommodation, transport, guide.
  • The client opens an interactive proposal, asks for changes, then accepts.
  • Deposit collected (M-Pesa or card), booking confirmed, documents issued, balance tracked to arrival.

Software should collapse that loop, not decorate it. Judge every option against the four jobs above.

Day-activity booking systemsBókun, FareHarbor, Peek ProGreat at taking same-day activity bookings + OTA distribution; not built for multi-stop quoted trips. FareHarbor & Peek publish no prices; Bókun adds 1–1.5% booking fees on paid plans.
Itinerary platformsWetu, Safari Portal, TripMapperExcellent itinerary design/content; payments are absent (Wetu), gateway-unnamed (Safari Portal) or Stripe-only (TripMapper).
Global PMS suitesCloudbeds, Little HotelierRooms-focused; no multi-stop trip quoting; no mobile money.
Africa-built operator toolsSavanna Sync, Yekrina, TravelBookingWidgetsSafari-native workflows and M-Pesa. Check maturity: Savanna Sync’s trials were listed as opening "at launch" (2026-09-06); Yekrina sells perpetual licences from $799.

The buyer’s checklist

  • Can a consultant build a 7-day multi-stop quote in under an hour, reusing a catalog?
  • Does the client receive an interactive proposal they can accept online — not a PDF attachment?
  • Can the client pay the deposit in the same flow, by M-Pesa or card, with the payment matched to the booking automatically?
  • Is pricing published and predictable as your team grows?
  • Does the calendar, inbox and CRM come with it — or is that three more subscriptions?

That checklist is why we built TravelBookingWidgets for tour operators — the trip-planner widget and proposals are the front, and deposits/operations are the back, in one system from free to $130/month. If you’re early-stage and budget-constrained, watch Savanna Sync’s launch; if you prefer owning software outright, Yekrina’s model is worth a look.
